Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of management functions (planning, organizing, executing, and controlling) in the collection and distribution of zakat, infaq, and sedekah (ZIS) at UPIZ Al-Mashduqiah, as well as to identify the challenges and opportunities for its development. This study employs a qualitative research design using a case study approach. Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews. The results indicate that ZIS collection relies on the social networks of the pesantren community using conventional methods (infaq boxes and transfers). The planning and organizing functions are operational, but digital strategies remain suboptimal. Distribution integrates both consumptive aid—such as cash assistance and basic food supplies—and productive aid—such as education for orphans. The implementation function is effective, but oversight and evaluation of long-term impacts remain limited. This study concludes that UPIZ Al-Mashduqiah has effectively implemented community-based management principles in building trust. The main challenges lie in system modernization, technology-based transparency, and strengthening productive distribution. This study recommends digital innovation and human resource capacity building.
