Abstract

Zakat and charity are key elements in Islam that serve not only as acts of worship but also as tools for achieving social justice and improving the quality of life for communities. The management of zakat and charity aims to realize social justice from an Islamic perspective by prioritizing the principles of transparency, accountability, trustworthiness, and effective distribution. The method applied is a literature review using a descriptive, qualitative, and comparative approach, drawing on references from the Qur’an, journal articles, and other sources related to philanthropy in Islam. The administration of zakat reduces social inequality, improves community welfare, and provides protection for vulnerable groups through various empowerment programs in the fields of economy, education, and health. Furthermore, the application of technology in zakat management facilitates the processes of fund collection and distribution, although it still requires clear and accountable oversight. Through the implementation of good governance practices, zakat and sadaqah can serve as strategic tools in building a just, inclusive, and sustainable Islamic economic system.
