Abstract

This study aims to enhance the effectiveness of learning guidance through a mentoring program at SDN 107463 Tebing Syahbandar, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a participatory mentoring model involving teachers, students, and student mentors. The activities were carried out in three stages: assessment of learning needs, implementation of structured learning guidance, and evaluation and reflection of the results. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ motivation, self-confidence, and academic abilities, particularly in reading comprehension and basic logic problem-solving. The average student score increased from 62.3 to 78.5 after participating in the mentoring program. In addition, the program fostered independent learning and the emergence of voluntary small study groups outside of school hours. Teachers also experienced an increase in pedagogical competence through the implementation of more adaptive, collaborative, and student-centered learning strategies. Overall, the mentoring program proved effective in strengthening a positive learning culture and building an inclusive learning ecosystem in elementary schools.
