Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of job recruitment in improving employee performance at Bandrek Jahe Merah Ilham MSME. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon that many MSMEs in Indonesia, including the traditional culinary sector, face challenges in obtaining labor that suits their business needs due to limited resources and an unstructured recruitment system. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study method to gain an in-depth understanding of recruitment practices and their influence on employee performance. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of the owners and employees directly involved in the recruitment process. The results show that the recruitment process at Bandrek Jahe Merah Ilham SME is simple yet effective, emphasizing the suitability of prospective employees' technical skills, personal characteristics, and work attitude. The appropriate recruitment process contributes to improved employee performance, as reflected in work efficiency, consistent product quality, and increased customer satisfaction. In addition, this study found that the main obstacles in recruitment are the limited availability of skilled labor and the lack of understanding of prospective employees regarding traditional production processes. Overall, this study confirms that effective recruitment is a key factor in building the performance and productivity of MSMEs in a sustainable manner.
