Islam dan Pembangunan Ekonomi: Estimasi Moral dalam Menciptakan Keadilan Sosial
Keywords:
Islam and Economic Development, Morals, Social JusticeAbstract
This article rejects economic development mechanisms that ignore moral discourse within the economic development system because they hinder the creation of social justice. Based on various literature, economic development separated from morality has created a myth of socioeconomic justice, as it fails to produce an economic system that supports increasing the income of the poor, solving unemployment problems, and ensuring fair income distribution in accordance with the ideals of justice. Through the approaches of Baqir Al Sadr, Umar Chapra, and Dudley Seers, the study argues that economic development which neglects moral aspects can lead to injustice within the system and remains far from achieving social justice. This research employs a library research method, with data collected from books, journals, and other relevant sources related to Islam and morality-based economic development. The findings reveal a strong relationship between economic development and morality, indicating that Islam directs the economic development system to be grounded in moral principles. Furthermore, this article does not oppose non-Islamic concepts of economic development, but rather emphasizes that morality should be integrated into, not excluded from, the systematic pursuit of equitable economic development.
