Peran Pengawasan Kerja dalam Meningkatkan Kinerja Karyawan pada UMKM Martabak Bangka Terang Bulan Arum

This study aims to examine the role of work supervision in improving employee performance at the Martabak Bangka Terang Bulan Arum business. Supervision is regarded as an essential management function to ensure that operational activities run according to predetermined standards and business goals. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, the researcher was directly involved in field data collection. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with the business owner, the head of production, operational employees, and regular customers, complemented by observation and documentation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively through inductive and deductive coding to identify key themes regarding supervision practices, their impact on employee performance, and the obstacles experienced during implementation. The findings indicate that direct supervision by the business owner significantly contributes to discipline, responsibility, and consistent product quality. In addition, communicative and participatory supervision enhances employees’ work motivation and strengthens the relationship between the owner and the workforce. Despite these positive effects, challenges were identified, especially the owner’s limited time and the lack of formal written standards, which result in supervision being carried out informally. Overall, this study demonstrates that work supervision plays an important role in improving employee performance and ultimately increasing business productivity.
