Burnout is a psychological condition characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreased professional efficacy due to prolonged stress in academic and clinical environments. Nursing students are vulnerable to burnout because of high academic demands and emotionally demanding clinical practice, particularly when caring for patients with psychiatric disorders. This study aimed to describe the level of burnout among nursing students managing patients with mental disorders during psychiatric clinical practice. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted among 30 nursing students undergoing psychiatric clinical rotation at RSJ Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Semarang using total sampling. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) distributed electronically and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results showed that most respondents experienced high burnout (70.0%), followed by low (23.33%) and moderate (6.67%). Emotional exhaustion (73.3%) and depersonalization (90.0%) were the dominant dimensions, while nearly half of the students still demonstrated high professional efficacy (46.67%). These findings highlight the need for stress management support, therapeutic communication training, and effective clinical supervision from educational institutions.
